**Namaste š**
Our *Mahila Sadassu* yesterday was a deeply meaningful gathering, bringing together women from **urban, rural, and tribal regions**āa beautiful coming together of diverse geographies and lived traditions.
The theme of the session was **āGrÄma DevatÄā** ā celebrating our intimate connection with the **divine presence that permeates nature**, protects us, nurtures us, and sustains our lives.
As taught in the Bhagavad Gita, human beings and DevatÄs are meant to exist in a **mutually sustaining relationship**. When we live with gratitude and reverence, this harmony supports the well-being of all creation. However, when we consume the resources of nature without acknowledging or respecting these forces, the Gita reminds us that such a life is akin to that of a *thief*āone who takes without giving back.
Across time and cultures, our ancestors have lived with this awareness. They cultivated deep bonds with the seen and unseen forces of existence, ensuring that life was lived in a spirit of responsibility and gratitude.
This understanding is beautifully expressed through the concept of **į¹į¹a (sacred responsibilities)**:
* **Pitį¹ į¹į¹am** ā honoring our ancestors
* **Deva į¹į¹am** ā reverence towards the DevatÄs and cosmic forces
* **į¹į¹£i į¹į¹am** ā gratitude to the sages and knowledge traditions
* **GrÄma DevatÄ į¹į¹am** ā nurturing our connection with the presiding energies of our land and culture
* **BhÅ«ta į¹į¹am** ā responsibility towards all living beings and nature
The Sadassu reaffirmed that these are not merely ideas, but **living principles** that guide how we relate to the world around us.
